Description

Delicate and appealing on the nose, with notes of ripe orchard fruit, warm bread and touch of spice. The palate opens out to a core of apricot, nashi pear and gentle white flowers, balanced by a subtle savoury note and a vibrant mouth-watering acidity. Finishes pleasingly long.

2017 was a memorable and challenging vintage. Seresin Vineyards experienced a wonderful warm start to the growing season, with good soil moisture helping the vines to grow well. They then experienced cold temperatures during flowering, resulting in lower yields and smaller bunches. The harvest itself was fast and furious, one of the most compact ever experienced with challenging rain events just before and during harvest. The resulting wines having strong natural acidity and intense fruit flavours from colder season.
Predominantly from the clay-rich hillside Raupo Creek vineyard, which as a gentle North-West facing aspect, settled in the centre of the Omaka. The other proportion is drawn from Seresin’s Noa vineyard at the Western end of Wairau Valley.

Certified organic grapes were handpicked, and bunch pressed before being naturally fermented with wild yeast, 80% in French oak barriques (4% new). The wine remained on the lees in the barrel for 10 months before being blended and lightly filtered before bottling.

A lovely fruity wine with a touch of oak. Nicely balanced with a pleasant roundness and smooth finish.
