Description

"Brightly fruited and nicely lifted, the bouquet shows dark plum, raspberry, roasted beet and vanilla aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is fruit expressive and smooth. The wine offers attractive fruit intensity and silky texture, making it very approachable and easy to enjoy. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2018

A classic fruit driven Shiraz bursting with aromas of dark fruits and spice with background notes of charred French oak. This is a full bodied wine showcasing rich and juicy dark fruits of plum and cherry balanced with soft tannins and oak, providing a long lasting finish.

Every vintage, each parcel is allocated a batch code and separated from the rest. It is then treated independently to ensure cleanliness and purity of the winemaking. With Mothe Nature ensuring each year offers new possibilities and hope of a celebrated vintage, these codes are the only constant, and have come to symbolise the Mc Gauigan family’s commitment to always make the wine the hero!

Fruit was sourced from premium vineyards located in South Eastern Australia, where the climate is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. Long sunshine hours ensure the fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.

Batch 16SHI#03X1 grapes were crushed and de-stemmed and a portion of the wine was transferred onto oak in temperature-controlled conditions to maximise the fruit flavours. A selected yeast strain was then added during the process. Post fermentation, most of the wine was matured stainless steel tanks with a percentage also be aged for further maturation in French oak. This wine is carefully blended to produce an approachable and smooth Shiraz.

Food Pairing: This wine is a perfect accompaniment to rich hearty red meat dishes such as rare steak.
