"Deliciously approachable, at a price that offers good value" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

Particularly rewarding with tomato based dishes, try with Tomato kachumber, an Indian chopped salad that will make for a fresh, flavourful combination.

Description

"A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Bright, fresh and flavoursome red with dark berry, plum, vanilla, spice, anise and subtle nutty oak flavours. Deliciously approachable wine at a price that offers good value. Drink 2015 to 2019" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Nov 2015

"Full, deep, dark ruby-red colour with black-red hues, a little lighter edged.  The nose is elegant in proportion with a fine heart of blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit along with dark plums and dark herbs, plus a little cassis.  The fruit has an attractive fragrance.  Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly presented with good depth and intensity of black and redcurrant fruit with black plum flavours.  Dark herbal notes and cassis add detail, and the fruit shows with freshness and clarity.  The mouthfeel features fine-grained tannin grip and structure, with fresh acidity lending vibrancy and energy.  The wine flows with good drive to an elegant, lingering finish of currants and herbs.  This is an elegant, finely concentrated Merlot blend with currant and plum flavours, along with herb notes on a fresh palate.  Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes, and Mediterranean fare over the next + years.  A blend of 73.5% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 7.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged up to 14 months in seasoned oak" Raymond Chan

"Impressively fruited and complex, the inviting bouquet shows blackcurrant, smoked game, black olive, cedar and spice aromas. The palate is equally attractive and satisfying with delectable fruit flavours combined with soothing savoury undertones. Flavoursome, generous and very tasty. This 2013 is a blend of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

This blended red (Merlot 73.5%, Cabernet Franc 14%, Cabernet Sauvignon 7.5% and Malbec 5%.) is a prime example of the style produced from the stony soils of Hawke’s Bay. Highly scented plum, blackberry and cassis aromas with hints of five spice, cedar and fine spicy oak. The palate shows dark fruits dominated by plum and cassis while supported by firm, ripe tannins. The oak influence is subtle and provides spicy notes and great structure.

The red varieties at the winery are planted on free draining red metal soils. These vines are managed with an open canopy to provide good airflow and exposure to sunlight., with all the canopies are single cordon spur pruned.

All fruit is sorted by a state of the art optical sorting machine to ensure onluy the optimal fruit went into the winery. These grapes were then destemmed into closed fermenters. Some cold soaking took place before approximately 10 day fermentaion, with regular pump overs to optimize extraction of colour, flavour and tannins. Daily assessment of flavour and structure determined when winmakers then pressed, which took place when maximum flavour was considered to be achieved. Keeping each batch and variety separate during barrel maturation for up to 12 months, the wine was finally blended just prior to bottling. This wine will continue to age gracefully for several years. Ideal drinking from late 2014 till 2018 or beyond.

All the flavours, depth and richness one would expect and more of a wine in this price range. A very nice wine.
