There’s a bit more throttle to this release than we’ve come to expect of shiraz under this label. It works a treat too!

Description

"There’s a bit more throttle to this release than we’ve come to expect of shiraz under this label. It works a treat too. Grainy cherry plum flavours with beefier notes/aspects, bolstered further by sweet, toasty, cedary oak. We’re in business" James Halliday Wine Companion 2017

"The eternal debate of Coonawarra Shiraz being second rate to cabernet or its equal and in some cases superior. In this case it should be equal but as it falls two points behind is it inferior? Ah the reviewer caught out. Maybe. It’s not that it’s a poor wine far from it plenty of spice well balanced fruit beautifully constructed and with time to go, its difference for me being the greatness of the cabernet and how well its drinking whilst the shiraz still has a couple of edges that need smoothing out and that will take a little time so a mean 94 now and more to come" Tony Keys, The Key Report, Jan/Feb 2017

In the glass this wine displays attractive deep red colour, purple hues. Ripe red berries on the bouquet, a hint of black pepper and underlying spice. The palate is complex, flavoursome yet elegant. Rich berry flavours are enhanced by toasty oak, tight and persistent tannins, excellent weight of fruit weight and a fine balance. A warming finish and persistence of flavour.

Zema is proudly independent, deriving its meaning and inspiration from the sense of trust, security and dependability that comes from family and the feeling that everything it does has been influenced by a rich legacy of stories and culture.

Shiraz is vinified over the course of a week under controlled temperatures in a combination of rotary and static fermenters. The finished wine is treated to fourteen months maturation in small French and American oak hogsheads, achieving a seamless construct of Coonawarra Shiraz.

The fruit for this Shiraz was picked at optimum maturity. The wine underwent fermentation for a week under carefully controlled temperatures in both static and rotary fermenters. Aged in small American and French oak barrels, the resulting drink is rich and vibrant.

Food Pairing: Delicious with beef, lamb, game or poultry.
