Description

"Moderately deep cerise-pink colour, lighter on the edge with slight purple hues.  This has an up-front, firmly packed nose with aromas of cherries, and raspberries and cream, along with some confectionary lift.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has full and up-front flavours of raspberry and cherry confectionary.  The mouthfeel is soft and gently textured with some underlying phenolics, and the acidity is balanced and integrated.  The flavours form a firm core and are carried with good linearity to a finish of raspberries and confectionary.  This is an up-front, dry rosé with cherry, raspberry and confectionary flavours and a softly-textured palate with a firm core.  Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years.  Based on Merlot, the fruit was given brief skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.8 g/L RS" Raymond Chan, Jul 2018

This Rosé is bursting with juicy red summer berry flavours. Being Merlot based, this fruity wine has gentle acids creating a friendly and fun summer drink.

The 2016 growing season started out incredibly dry, with some predicting a severe drought for this Mystery vineyard. Fortunately some unseasonal rains in February set the vines up for a great final ripening period. March and April were very consistent, with warm and dry weather experienced throughout Marlborough allowing a harvest that wasn’t dictated by the weather. The fruit from this vintage was extremely clean coming into the winery and the resulting wine has focused, lifted aromatics and beautiful concentration and mouthfeel.

The fruit was destemmed, chilled then soaked on skins briefly in the press to extract an attractive pink hue. The fruit was then pressed off to a stainless tank and left to settle for two days. Once settled, the clear juice was racked off and warmed before being inoculated with yeast specially selected to enhance fresh and lifted fruity aromatics. A cool fermentation took place over 19 days. The wine was then racked, stabilised and filtered before bottling.

Food pairing: Enjoy this wine chilled with chèvre, prosciutto and fresh strawberries.
