Ogier Heritages Vacqueyras Rouge 2015 (France)
Description
The name Vacqueyas comes from Val Queyras (the stone river), an exceptional terroir of limestone, clay and round pebbles in terraces. Here wines are full bodied but elegant, with aromas of ripe fruit, spices and hint of liquorice.
Ogier has been based in Chateauneuf-du-Pape for over 150 years and has sought to raise awareness of this remarkable appellation. The company has gained a special understanding of the region. The Héritages range is a product of Ogier’s hundred-year-old expertise & the finest of the Côtes du Rhône terroirs.
In the winery partial destemming of Grenache took place and cold pre-fermentation maceration (12°C) during 4 days for the Syrah and Mourvèdre. Juice spent 6 months in foudres (oak barrels of 60 to 80 hl.) which are 1-40 years old.
