Description

"Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, very light edged. The nose is softly full with aromas of white stonefruits and subtle notes of pears, along with white florals and suggestions of nuts and minerals. This is elegantly concentrated and shows good depth. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a softly concentrated and rich heart. The fruit richness is enhanced by crisp acidity and the palate has gently textured, mouthfilling flavours. The wine carries softly to a light, nuanced finish. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 2-3 years. A blend of two picks of fruit, both WBP direct to barrel, 50% undergoing indigenous yeast fermentation to 4-5 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees in seasoned oak" Raymond Chan, Mar 2018

"Pale straw, clear, some green tints. Fresh, some lees reduction, green melon, honeydew, red apple skin, lychee, ginger and bran notes, waxy and honeyed. The freshness, youth and vitality suggest aromatics seen in alpine regions like Alto Adige known for its Pinot Gris such as Franz Haas. Fresh, tight and linear on the palate, red apple skin, grainy textured, firm and dry. The structure coming from this challenging vintage points more towards an old world expression, one could easily put this as a gruner veltliner look alike. Perhaps this is the southern Hawkes Bay, limestone plot having some influence. This dry, medium bodied, fresh and fruity Pinot Gris will appeal to Sauvignon Blanc drinkers" Brando Nash

Subtle, pale gold with just a hint of green in the glass with a fresh nose. Green notes adorn the perfume, adding a crisp undertone to the sensory ballad that is The Poet. Red apple skin, honeydew melon, lychee and ginger account for the rest of this fruity and aromatic composition. A dry character, the Poet does not exhibit sweet notes, but instead offers a firm, tight and linear palatable tale, with textured fruity notes of red apple and honeycomb taking the centre-stage. Hold the applause.
