Deep intense red with purple hues, this delicious wine is fresh with lifted ripe dark berry and spicy fruit aromas. Whilst herb notes and some oak offer fantastic balance to the nose. This is a full bodied Shiraz, showing fresh lively black currants, herbs on the following palate, which is again balanced with subdued spicy integrated oak.

Grapes were selected from premium vineyards, which experience ideal growing conditions that produce fruit with superb flavours. in the winery these grapes saw an array of fermentation vessels to produce juice with aewide variety of styles. Once ferment was complete winemaker, John Quarisa, carried out careful tasting and blending to produce a finished product that is rich & great value for money.

Made from the Carignan grape variety, from vineyards comprising 100 year old vines!

We love the Carignan grape, especially when made from old vines which produce concentrated, intense and delicious wines. 2016 was a good, sunny vintage. On the nose, this wine has aromas of fig and garrigue herbs typical of ancient Carignan vines grown on hillsides. The palate is delicate, with a fine balance between taste and tannins, suppleness and acidity. A wonderfully rich, elegant example of this Languedocgrape variety.

"Very dark, near impenetrable, purple-hued. The nose is elegant in presentation with fine and firm, deep aromas of black-berried fruits entwined with a layering of dark herbs, with subtle mineral notes. This is youthful in expression, revealing some jam nuances with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is well-packed with a firm core of concentrated black fruits along with a layer of dark herbs and minerals. The fruit sweetness and near unctuousness is enlivened by lacy acidity and the wine shows depth and presence, with fine-grained tannin extraction in support. Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel is made using grapes sourced from gnarled 35-80 year old head-trained vines. As some of the oldest vines in California, the
fruit produced is exceptional, intense and full-flavored. This intrepid Old Vine Zinfandel has a gnarly core of jammy blackberry and black cherry flavors with hints of black pepper, balanced by complex American and French oak toast. Try pairing this bold wine with braised short ribs, chicken enchiladas or dark chocolate.
