Description

"Bright, fragrant and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, blueberry compote, floral, vanilla and toasted almond notes. The palate is succulent and rounded, displaying lovely fruit purity as well as elegant spicy complexity, wonderfully supported by fine, chalky tannins. It is immediately appealing with supple mouthfeel and juicy fruit intensity" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018

"Brand spanky and bursting with berries, this merlot is lighter in style than the previous vintage, but it has silky, spice-driven backbone and a warming, cuddly, savoury sippability. It’s a soft, supple, crowdpleaser of a wine with buckets of berries to put a smile on everyone’s faces" Yvonne Lorkin, Hawke’s Bay Today, 2017

Vibrant rich purple in the glass with aromas of plum, blackberry and hints of spice harmoniously blending with oak notes. Medium bodied, this wine displays plum, wild berry and bramble, combined with a touch of cedar oak supported by a fine tannin structure.

A warm summer provided stunning flavours and structure. The grapes are picked from elevated terraces from selected vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. The soils are ancient river beds with free draining stony soils and silty clay loams.

Predominantly Merlot grapes, the blend of varietals adds complexity to the overall wine structure and flavour profile. Predominantly spur pruned, 50% was aged in French oak barrels for 10 months.

Food Pairing: This wine is perfect with a steak on the barbeque, and tastes great with rich tomato-based pasta dishes.
