Description

"One of the most reliable pinots on the market, this latest offering is instantly appealing on the nose showing black cherry, dark plum, vanilla and almond characters with hints of spice and mushroom notes. The palate is succulent and beautifully rounded, and displays fabulous fruit intensity and silky texture, finishing long and delectable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 2017

A softly perfumed nose of cherry and red berry gives way to flavours of dark plum and spice on a fleshy palate. Balanced acidity integrates with the ripe fruit and soft tannins to produce a long and velvet-like finish.

Wim Julicher and Sue Darling operate Julicher Estate, one of Martinborough’s most consistent highest quality wine producers. This family-owned boutique winery focuses on the production of prestige quality wines with distinct fruit flavours. Like the river that engraves the land, Julicher, meaning ‘to seek the ideal’, has carved its own path to become a globally recognised, champion New Zealand wine producer of Pinot Noir.

100% hand-harvested and de-stemmed, this wine relished in pre-fermentation maceration for extraction of characterful fruit forwardness. The ferment received punch-downs twice daily during its peak, the resulting wine undergoing a malolactic ferment and 10 months aging in new French barriques. Racked and blended, this wine expresses a well-considered Te Muna personality. Drink from now to 2024.

This is seriously good Martinborough Pinot. Dark brooding colour, cherry and plum, smooth soft tannins and even now 5 minutes later, I still can taste the wine on my palate. Amazing value.
