Description
"Bright straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues, lighter edged. The nose is softly full with aroma of fresh white stonefruits gently layered with savoury nutty oak suggestions and hints of herbs. Medium-full bodied, the palate has good presence, with tightly bound, elegantly presented flavours of stonefruits, citrus fruits and savoury nutty notes. The palate is underlined by light phenolic textures providing a little grip, and balanced acidity. The flavours carry to a light finish. This is an up-front, light-flavoured Chardonnay with stonefruit, citrus fruit and savoury nutty notes on a dry, textured palate. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 2+ years. Fruit from Casablanca fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.6 g/L RS, the wine given oak contact" Raymond Chan, Apr 2017
"It is gently lifted on the nose showing golden apple, citrus, almond and subtle earthy mushroom notes. The palate is juicy and brightly flavoured with fine texture and crisp acidity. A restrained style offering subtle fruit flavours with savoury undertones. At its best: now to 2018" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2017
This golden yellow Chardonnay has an intense nose dominated by peach, pineapple, and green apple with a lightly floral touch and a bit of toast. A very fine chardonnay with a complex bouquet, pleasant in the mouth, with great body and length. It is fresh on the palate with good structure and a bit of oak and caramel. The fresh acidity and mild oak makes for a cleaner and more complex wine with a more persistent finish.
Carmen Premier 1850 is a contemporary brand that pays tribute to Viña Carmen, Chile’s first winery. Experience and knowledge are reflected in modern wines characterized by their purity and the intensity of their fruit.
The soils in our Casablanca vineyards are of granitic origin with various sandy zones throughout the soil profile. Although the Chardonnay is planted in different locations,it requires very specific soils with good drainage and a bit of clay.
The best Chardonnay comes from cool climates that allow the variety to develop elegant aromas of fruit such as apricot and peach as well as mineral aspects
in its range of flavours. Our Casablanca vineyards are 30 km from the Pacific Ocean and receive the benefits of the sea breezes that cool the temperatures during the growing season. The Casablanca terroir is considered world class and allows us to make a Chardonnay that is characterized by its greatness.
