Description

"Smooth, lush, and rich with sweet oak and vanila; all the elements of wines offered at three times the price; stylish and long" Blue Lifestyle

"A splendid attack of ripe stone fruit and mango on the nose with seductive vanilla pod, butterscotch and roasted hazelnut notes. The palate is powerful and opulent, delivering gorgeous fruit richness and plush mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by creamy mouthfeel and well-integrated acidity. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2018

"Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light lemon-gold hues.  The nose is initially a little restrained in expression, but unfolds to reveal an elegantly concentrated core of ripe tropical fruit and yellow stonefruits, along with subtle mealy elements, a little creamy barrel-ferment note and light’ lifted oak vanillins.  Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rounded, but concentrated heart with well-packed flavours of tropical fruit and stonefruits with citrussy elements.  Some creamy barrel-ferment adds to the richness along with nutty and vanilla-like oak.  Some mealy and flinty detail emerges.  Some alcoholic power underlines the palate, carrying the wine smoothly with good linearity to a rich finish.  This is a rich, well-packed Chardonnay with ripe fruit flavours, enhanced by oak , showing some complexing detail on a palate with plenty of power and drive.  Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years.  Californian fruit fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 7 months in 80% American and 20% French oak, undergoing 100% MLF" Raymond Chan, Jun 2018

This rich Chardonnay exhibits a classic profile of tropical fruit and Bosc pear alongside warm oak aromatics. The luscious palate suggests crème brulée and buttered toast, and finishes with fresh acidity.

Winemakers at Harken crafted this Chardonnay because they missed that rich, oaky taste of Chardonnays gone by. At some point, someone decided that those great toasty notes and buttery finish went out of style and they think that’s crazy. So in this wine they have brought it back! Honoring the days when things were done right– including the art of winemaking 100% barrel fermented & 100 % malolactic fermentation.

Only the finest California grapes make their way into Harken Wines, sourced from the Arroyo Seco AVA of Salinas Valley. This wine saw 7 months in oak, a mixture of American (805) & French oak (20%).

Food Pairing: Cantaloupe with prosciutto, seared white fish over herbed farro.
