Description

"It is beautifully ripe and fragrant on the nose showing dark cherry, spiced plum, black olive and toasted almond characters. The palate is succulent and plump, delivering attractive fruit weight and intensity, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and elegant savoury complexity. It is flavoursome and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018

The extreme continental climate of Central Otago is one of fiercely cold nights and long warm summer days. It is these intense conditions combined with the lush surrounding cherry orchards that serve to create the vivid, rich and spicy nature of Cherry Block Pinot Noir.

2017 vintage presented us a long growing season allowing the fruit to ripen well and catch the best of the late autumn sun. Grapes were 100% handpicked in 2 batches on 4-6th and 18-27th April 2017 from vineyards in the Alexandra basin. A mixture of Pinot Noir Clone 5, 667 and 115 grapes were used. Bunches were 100% destemmed, then macerated for between 18 and 21 days. Following fermentation, the wine was matured for 10 months in French oak barrels.

Food Pairing: Great by itself or enjoyed with venison, duck and turkey.
