A light, soft style South American Pinot Noir style, with a sensuous mouthfeel that captivates a velvety, persistent finish
Pinot Noir represents a sort of the feminine side of red wines and as such this wine is elegant and subtle.
This is a devilishly succulent wine that pairs beautifully alongside barbecued meats such as such as spicy hot chorizo 'devil dogs' served with pickled jalapeños
Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Pinot Noir 2016 (Chile)
Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Pinot Noir 2016 (Chile)
Description
"The bouquet is gently lifted showing dried cherry, game, nutmeg and leather notes, leading to a fruity palate that is smooth and pleasingly dry. It is spicy and savoury with delicate fruit flavours. At its best: now to 2019" Sma Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2018
This Pinot has a light and young ruby complextion. Complex aromas of strawberries and raspberries and notes of toasted French oak great the nose. Whilst the palate is medium-full bodied, with good structure and a long, lingering finish.
Hailing from the Casablanca, Rapel & Limarí Valleys wine region in Chile where the terrior is fertile alluvial soils. Once harvested and processed in the winery the juice was aged in oak barrels.
The name comes from a century old rumor created by Don Melchor, the winery's founder, who spread the word amongst local villagers that the devil lived in his cellar, after he suffered the theft of his finest Concha y Toro wines. From that day, the wine has been known as Casillero del Diablo, the devil's cellar. And the wine thieves remain deterred!
Food Pairing: Great with chicken, pork, vegetarian dishes or even a gusty fish dish.
