Description
Purple garnet in the glass with a bouquet of juicy red berries, spice, rich cocoa and freshly dug earth. Nicely textured, rich and complex flavours of sweet red berries. A really elegant structure which fills the mouth with ripe fruit tannin and lingers long after the wine's gone.
The Spring Equinox marks the first burst of bud and the Autumn Equinox signals the time for harvest at the Waipara Hills Estate and honour of this they have realesed this limited edition range to capture the special terroir of the region and the Equinox winds that blow hot and dry across these plains.
Hand picked from 'The Mound' vineyard in the Waipara Valley, where a layer of clay across the soil surface adds complexity to the wine. the 2014 vintage saw a cool spring, which slowed the start of the season, but a warm and stable summer later gave the best possible conditions for fruit and flavour development. Some rain at the start of the harvest period slowed things down, but didn't this dis not affect the overall quality. Once in the winery the juice spent 9 months in French oak barriques (30% new).
