Description
"It is instantly appealing on the nose showing dark berry, plum, cedar, cocoa, black olive and warm spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate that is silky and flowing. The wine offers graceful mouthfeel backed by polished tannins, finishing persistent and velvety. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018
A bouquet of red cherry, clove, brambles, lavender and freshly tilled earth jump from the glass. Whilst the palate showcases cherry, warm spice, supple fruit. Silky tannins provide a fine structure.
The 2013/14 growing season began with one of the hottest starts on record until the end of December, with rapid even growth, a good flowering and subsequent fruit set. Then through to the end of February was cooler than average with the vineyards achieving good berry development. March was warmer than the norm and we saw full development of flavour and concentration. Each parcel harvested in optimum conditions despite some pressure from late season rain.
After a combination of hand harvesting and selective machine harvesting the wine was held in cold soak for 4-6 days and fermented using indigenous yeasts.
Total skin time was 16-29 days before aging for 10 months in French oak hogsheads. The result is a wine which will be at its best within five years.
