Description

"It is generously fruited and expressed on the nose showing ripe strawberry, cranberry, peach and floral notes. The palate delivers charming fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel, beautifully supported by silky texture and refreshing acidity. The wine offers lovely mid palate weight, finishing lingering and juicy. At its best: now to end of 2018" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018

"Light red in colour and light red berried in flavour. No alarms or surprises but it offers a sound, juicy flow of flavour, red cherry mostly, with spice and blood orange-like inflections. Just enough juicy, jellied generosity but with a dry/crisp finish. Works a treat" Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

This is a food-lovers wine and has an instant impact of lifted cherry, raspberry, leather and brown spices. The palate is soft yet flavoursome and immediately exotic. Rich in red fruit flavours and laden with savoury spice notes with brisk acidity that drives a very long salivating finish.

On the far north-western tip of Sicily, sitting above the ancient city of Erice, are the beautiful vineyards Il Villaggio sources their fruit for this rich Rosato. The vitcultralists here strive to produce wines of expression and typicity from the older, low yielding vines, which are farmed organically and painstakingly hand-harvested. This is an expression of love for an ancient way of life in an ancient land.

Grapes once hand harvesting is complete are whole bunch pressed with a short maceration on skins to ensure colour, flavour and structure. Then juice is fermented cool, enabling complexing characters to develop and extract. Spednding a short period on lees builds subtle texture and softness into the wine whilst maintaining Nero’s classic freshness.

Food Pairing: This wine is rich enough for almost any dish yet with the softness and complexity to partner everyday starters including antipasto and cheeses.
