Description

"Soft-toned and gentle, the wine displays bright notes of raspberry, cherry and strawberry with subtle spice notes. The palate is juicy and lively, and delivers subtle fruit intensity backed by smooth mouthfeel. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2017

"Aged in a blend of older oak and stainless steel to add nuance whilst maintaining freshness, the nose is inviting and ripely fruited, all bright red-berried fruit, plums and sweet spice with the hint of savoury oak. The palate medium bodied and approachable with a dark berry and cassis flavours framed by soft tannins" London Wine Competition 2018

The nose is inviting and ripely fruited, all bright red-berried fruit, plums and sweet spice with a hint of savoury oak. The palate is medium bodied and apprachable with dark berry and cassis flavours framed by soft tannins.

The Farm Hand wines were grown by the Grigoriou family, fourth generation wine growers, from almost one hundred acres of Organic Vineyards in the Monash Valley of South Australia.

The moderate, dry climate with very low rainfall during autumn and fertile soils is perfectly suited to organic viticulture. The well-established vines (up to thirty years old) are planted widely apart for airflow to minimise disease pressure and minimal drip irrigation ensures low yielding fruit with rich flavours and varietal expressiveness. The 2017 vintage saw a return to conditions no commonly seen for over two decades. A very wet winter followed but a cool summer with few spikes of heat, resulted in harvest being a month later than normal in recent years. However, a dry and consistently moderate autumn ensured the fruit was able to ripen slowly I ideal conditions. This ‘throwback’ vintage will become famed for quality and elegance of the fruit.

After harvest grapes are fully destemmed before fermentation in mix of open and closed tanks. This wine was primarily vinified without the influence of oak for maximum fruit expression before blending with a component aged in three and four year old French oak.
