Our 2010 Riesling release is again from an ideal block in Bendigo, Central Otago. An elevated slope with excellent sun exposure and soils of high schist content results in lively fruit with gentle ripe acidity. "balanced with a sweet core of citrus, melons and grapefruit zest"
"a long tangelo finish"
This wine has an exotic nose with persimmons, guava and melons. Still very young, this wine has mouthwatering acidity that is balanced with a sweet core of citrus, melons and grapefruit zest. The salty minerality in the wine leads to a long tangelo finish. This wine would benefit from cellaring.
All Carrick Rieslings are hand harvested, and picked early to preserve the powerful floral aromatics and bright citrus acidity which are characteristic of Central Otago. The wine has been whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast. The gentle handling of this wine means that it has been bottled without fining.

"good fruit concentration and weight in the mouth"
"a core of minerality and tangy acidity, which flows through the palate"
The wine’s bouquet and flavour suggests citrus fruit, especially limes, along with peaches, nectarines, lychees, pineapple and tropical spices. The low crop levels have produced good fruit concentration and weight in the mouth. There is a core of minerality and tangy acidity, which flows through the palate, helping to draw out the wine’s length and balance its off-dry finish. While ready to drink on release, with careful cellaring, it should continue to develop and blossom for a decade or more.
In making this wine we especially selected vines with low to moderate levels of crop. After... Read more »

A tricky year in the vineyards north of Auckland, with good bud burst and fruit set resulting in a big crop, so much fruit thinning was needed. Some rain in February and March meant ripening was slow and the grapes were not harvested until mid May - two weeks later than normal.

"FINISHES WITH LIVELY CITRUS RIND FLAVOURS"
GOLD MEDAL: Liquorland Top 100 2008
The Camshorn vineyard, originally a suffolk sheep farm, sits sheltered from prevailing winds by hills on both sides in the small, yet diverse winegrowing area of the Waipara Valley. Gracing State Highway One, the Camshorn vineyard is a mile long and nearly as wide, and features precision planted north/south facing rows, created using laser lights, which cover north facing slopes gaining maximum light exposure.
The wine is pale straw in colour with green highlights and has aromas of spicy pear and cinnamon. On the palate, it offers flavours of pear, mandarin and mineral characters contributed by the soils. The wine finishes with lively citrus rind flavours- Winemakers Notes

"vibrance and succulence"
Few Australian vineyards can boast the lineage of this wine. This is the 28th vintage in which Grosset has released a Watervale Riesling. The name 'Springvale' emphasises the fact that it is now entirely from the single vineyard owned by Grosset. The 2008 vintage is shaping up to be the best since 2002 for Clare riesling.
"Fresher, more fragrant and more driven by intense lime juice flavour than the Polish Hill. There is some restraint in this young Riesling; vibrance and succulence with zesty, almost earthy and certainly minerally notes; as well as pure fruit before its lingering, dry finish."
