"HINTS OF CHOCOLATE, CHERRY AND PEPPERY SPICINESS"
A lifted aromatic nose of sweet leather with hints of chocolate, cherry and peppery spiciness. A smooth mouth filling wine with soft tannins and subtle acid. Drink now to 2016. Serve with venison, wild game and casseroles.
Hawkes Bay enjoyed a good summer with plenty of hot weather and relatively low levels of rainfall. This meant that in the approach to harvest fruit quality was maximized as the ripening processes began.

The juice was pressed and aged in one, two and three year old French oak barrels for six months. The barrels were then blended, lightly... Read more »

A wonderfully brooding wine with depths of darkness in both appearance and taste. A floral streak gives the wine some prettiness in what would otherwise be a fairly dark exercise.

"a flowing and generous palate"
GOLD MEDAL: Hawkes Bay A&P Mercedes Benz Wine Awards.
This is the third vintage of Left Field Syrah and like the previous two, it has its own particular style within the relatively diverse Syrah flavour spectrum.
The great cooler expressions of Syrah are often found in the Northern Rhone valley in Europe and in moderate to cool southern hemisphere climates. The fruit expression on the nose tends to suggest cracked pepper and fruit cake spice. Secondary characters of leather and sausage meat may be in evidence to sensitive tasters.
The palate is finely constructed. Definitely medium weight and supple, and in keeping with one of my winemaking philosophies: deliver on... Read more »
