310 years old and still going strong! Gold: NZIS
Deep ruby-red colour, with garnet rim. Classic intense black fruit nose. Firm, vigorous, full-bodied palate, with powerful fruit flavours and a long finish.
Taylor's Special Ruby Port is blended from red wines produced in the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo areas of the upper Douro Valley, selected for their depth of colour, intense fruit and full, firm palate. These wines are matured for about three years in oak vats, where they soften and develop without losing their fresh, intense fruity character and their deep ruby colour.
Taylor's Special Ruby is bottled for immediate drinking and should not need to be decanted unless the bottle has been kept for... Read more »

310 years and still going strong
Taylor’s Special Tawny Port is characterised by smoothness and is a relatively full tawny, with a pronounced fruity character. This blended port, selected from lighter wines made in the Douro, is aged in wooden casks of around 600 litres for three years before being bottled. This provides smoothness and gives the wine the slightest hint of wood.
Taylor's is the largest and one of the oldest Port houses in Portugal. Taylor’s Special Tawny Port is particularly popular in Continental Europe where it is drunk predominantly as an aperitif. For those preferring a lighter style, this versatile port can also be enjoyed after meals and should be served slightly chilled in the summer months.

MAKING PORT SINCE 1822...THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
Of an average cask age of ten years, it is a young port of russet color with brilliant crimson highlights and a fragrant, ripe-fruit bouquet. Its smooth, silky texture and subtle oak nuances are balanced by a fresh acidity and tannic ‘grip’ that culminate in a long, elegant finish.
The Fonseca Guimaraens house style is one of richness and warmth, with a lush fruit intensity and a structure of both dimension and finesse. More voluptuous than massive, Fonseca Ports are coveted for their sumptuous yet refined body and great longevity.

Aromas of grapefruit and apricot with a hint of honey
Pale gold colour on release. Aromas of grapefruit and apricot with a hint of honey. A great balance of acidity and sweetness, with a long finish to savour over after dinner, cheese and conversation Enjoy now or cellar carefully for the next 5 years. Winemakers Notes
In 1989 the unlikely combination of two windsurfing mates restauranteur Chris Gambitsis and police detective Phil Binnie decided that enjoying wine was not enough and what they really wanted to do was grow grapes and make wine. In true kiwi fashion, they jumped in the deep end, and set about establishing the notoriously stony Falcon Vineyard. They named their fledgling operation Lake Chalice Wines, after the wilderness lake in the Richmond range bordering the north of the Wairau... Read more »

"Delicate flavours of apricots, mandarin, candied tropical fruits and honey"
The wine has a golden hue. When released in Nov 2011, this late harvest wine was showing delicate aromas of ripe stone fruits, honey and subtle hints of its Sauvignon Blanc parentage. Rich & viscous with a great acid balance which keeps this wine from being cloying. Delicate flavours of apricots, mandarin, candied tropical fruits and honey make this late harvest sweetie a perfect partner for poached pears and mascarpone. Luscious.......!

"rich, luscious and unctuous"
On release the wine has a bright lemon gold hue. It is packed with impressions of yellow fleshed peaches, apricots, guavas, lychees, fresh figs and honeycomb. The palate is rich, luscious and unctuous but there is a lively minerality and acidity which course through the wine and prevent it from being cloying. There is a long lingering aftertaste.
The outcrop of land on which these were grown consists largely of weathered stones. Millions of years ago these were shorn from the high mountain peaks of the South Island’s Southern Alps by an ice-age glacier, which deposited them in selected sites in the Waipara Valley. The individual mineral rich terroir has helped shape this wine and our vines, which are up to about a quarter of a century in age and... Read more »
