"Possibly the biggest-selling Italian red wine in New Zealand"

4.5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"Sicily's finest red grape" Jancis Robinson MW on Nero d'Avola

"Once again, this label delivers with loads of tasty flavours. The nose is ripe and lifted showing dark plum, cherry, game and spice characters. It's nicely weighted on the palate with good fruit intensity and smooth texture leading to a pleasant dry finish. Brilliantly priced for such comfort and appeal. At its best: now to 2013." "lively and pleasantly harmonious"

"The Medici Lambrusco colour is intense ruby red. The bouquet is fruity and persistent with violet scent leading to sweet, fruity, fresh, lively and pleasantly harmonious. The froth is fine and rich when poured. Suitable to accompany fruits, desserts and pizza."

Medici Lambrusco DOC Reggiano Secco is a pretty ruby color, with a light sparkle; the bouquet is vinous with some berry fruit laced with violets. On the palate it's moderately full, not tannic, and has a nice touch of sweetness that melds well with an impressive fruitiness. The finish is moderately persistent, and quite clean, with some fruit.

The vineyards average in age from 15-20 years old and are comprised of 1,800 vines per acre. The soil has adequate calcium and nitrogen content and is comprised of moderate clay which allows excellent drainage

VINIFICATION: The grapes are gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Temperature is always controlled at 28°C together with frequent daily pump-overs which allow for good colour extraction, balanced tannins, rich fruity aroma and flavour... Read more »

"rich chromatic nuances"

undertone of the aroma and is balanced by a fine tannic note."

"complex bouquet that releases generous amounts of crisp, aromatic fruit"

"boasts a warm, velvety elegance"

"A rich, purple-flecked ruby precedes an equally emphatic, complex bouquet that releases generous amounts of crisp, aromatic fruit. Dark cherry, dried plum, and wild blackberry are beautifully lifted by floral notes of sweet violets and by spicier nuances of vanilla, cocoa powder, roast espresso bean, and black liquorice. The palate boasts a warm, velvety elegance, while the tannins are already well integrated, contributing to this Chianti’s overall fine balance and proportion."

"aromas of red and dark fruit"

"velvety and warm"

"A rich, luminous ruby of appealing depth announces an equally complex nose, which reveals multi-faceted aromas of red and dark fruit, such as dried plum, blackberry, cassis and redcurrant, lifted by spicier impressions of black pepper and liquorice. The entry is velvety and warm, and the components on the palate are well balanced, with a tasty vein of acidity. Aromatic fruit returns to grace a lengthy finish."

Remole is as blend of cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese sourced from areas of Tuscany long renowned for yielding wines of great aromatic complexity, with full-fruited aromas. Remole has an excellent body and sturdy structure.

"Intense, rich draughts of red berry fruit"

"impressive, multi-layered bouquet"

"The wine appears a dense, almost opaque purple-red, but of striking luminosity. Intense, rich draughts of red berry fruit lead off on the nose, with raspberry and wild strawberry well in evidence, followed closely by rich blackberry and dark cherry. This impressive, multi-layered bouquet closes with spicier impressions of cocoa powder, tobacco leaf, vanilla, and cinnamon. The palate is equally impressive for its warmth, velvet smoothness, and complex balance, where dense but supple tannins are already well integrated into the structure. A tasty, nervy acidity fuels a lengthy progression, and it concludes with lovely fruit in a final... Read more »

"fruity with cherry overtones that are balnced with hint of vanilla and cinnamon"

Ruby read with rich chromatic nuances. The bouquet is distinctly fruity with cherry overtones that are balnced with hint of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate the flavour reflects the spicy undertones while the fruit of the bouquet is well supported by balanced tannins.

"lively and fresh in the mouth, with soft, rounded tannins"

Clear, ruby-red in colour, with reasonable depth and 'legs' indicating good structure. Perfumes of cherries and fresh red fruit, mingle with spicy, peppery notes. The wine is lively and
fresh in the mouth, with soft, rounded tannins. Good intensity, attractive structure and fine, long length. Unoaked to mantain freshness and vivacity, the wine
remains in temperature controlled tanks until March/April following the vintage.

Delicious with almost all kinds of starters and light meat dishes, both red and white. Perfect with pasta of all types. Serve at 18°C

Store away from direct sunlight or direct heat, preferably in a cool dark cellar

"dark plum flavours and lovely soft, quaffable style"

Enjoy this wine's ripe, dark plum flavours and lovely soft, quaffable style. Great with all kinds of pasta dishes, roasted vegetables with couscous or home-made pizza.

The DOC region for Montepulciano d'Abruzzo covers a vast expanse of land in the Abruzzo region between the Apennines foothills down to the a few miles inland from the Adriatic coast. The region is one of Italy's most mountainous with more than 65% of all Abruzzo being considered mountainous terrain with the Apennines peaks reaching up to 9000 feet above sea level. The hillside vineyards planted on calcareous clay benefit from warm and significant sun exposure that is ventilated by dry breezes coming off the Adriatic.

"Fantastic for someone looking for something 'different' but still easy-going and gluggable"

Gold Medal: AWC-Vienna International Wine Challenge

This is a great example of a traditional Italian grape variety interpreted in a modern way. Attractive aromas of crushed berries, currant, savoury notes and smoky oak. Full-bodied, with lots of creamy, velvety tannins and a long, ripe, clean finish.

Negroamaro (or Negramaro) is the hearty southern Italian grape behind the success of lusty reds like Salice Salentino and Copertino. Its name when translated means ‘bitter black’ but the wines are far from that. It gives a glass full of personality – full-bodied with gamey, dark fruit, rich... Read more »

"Delicious, brambly fruit in a well-rounded friendly style"

Silver Medal: Selections Mondiales des Vins Canada

The Primitivo grape from Puglia - the heel of Italy's boot -has been scientifically identified as the ancestor of Zinfandel, and the similarities are easy to see! Delicious, brambly fruit in a well-rounded friendly style. Wine like this has been made in the area for at least two thousand years. Practice makes perfect!

Primitivo from southern Italy usually shows large-scale, rich, ripe and sometimes jammy blackberry fruit flavours, plus tar and Christmas cake characters, but unlike its better-known Californian cousin Zinfandel - Italian Primitivo usually has a pleasant streak of... Read more »

"Querciabella floats on the palate with layers of sensual red fruit, flowers and spices"

"The 2009 Chianti Classico Querciabella floats on the palate with layers of sensual red fruit, flowers and spices. It remains an essentially mid-weight wine graced with exquisite finesse and class, reflecting a stylistic change from some of the bigger vintages of the past. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."
- 90/100 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

In recent years Querciabella has established itself as one of Tuscany's top Chianti Classicos. Our allocation sells out quickly each year. Don't miss out on the delicious 2009.

A fresh and floral bouquet precedes a pleasnatly well-rounded palate laced with tangerine, peach and lemon fruit flavours.
