"a full-bodied wine with generous fruit flavours"

"Great dark berry aromas of blackberry and mulberry with hints of capsicum. The long ripening season of the Limestone Coast has delivered full flavoured grapes which result in a charming wine with cherry and chocolate flavours. Maturation in small barrels has added an earthy character and oak overtones. Overall this is a full-bodied wine with generous fruit flavours and a soft tannin structure."

The well drained soil, hot summers, cold winters and coastal climate of the Limestone Coast in South Australia are ideal for the cabernet sauvignon grape. A range of winemaking techniques were employed to fully develop the flavour and structure of this wine including juice draining, cold soaking, open tank fermentation and warm fermentation. The... "intense fruit driven flavours"

"smooth mellow finish"

"A mixture of forest fruit aromas, raspberry and dark cherry along with the oak driven aromas of caramel and mocha. A feature of this wine is the intense fruit driven flavours of raspberry and ripe plum. This is nicely balanced with integrated vanilla and caramel oak characters to deliver a smooth mellow finish."

The grapes for this wine were sourced from vineyardsin the Limestone Coast region of South Australia. The grapes were picked at optimum flavour ripeness during the cool of the night to ensure these strong flavours came through in the wine. The grapes then underwent primary fermented for a period of seven days at moderate temperatures before being... Read more »

"a powerful wine with mulberry and raspberry fruit characters"

"Dark berry fruit aromas are enhanced with subtle chocolate and sweet lifted vanilla from the American oak. The unique character of the Limestone Coast helps us to create a powerful wine with mulberry and raspberry fruit characters coupled with an undertone of oak and chocolate. It is a rich full flavoured wine with fine grained tannins delivering a soft warm mouth feel."

Fruit sourced from our Old Mundulla Vineyard located on the Limestone Coast in South Australia was used in the production of this wine. The cool conditions throughout most of the growing season resulted in the grapes having very intense varietal and regional characteristics as well as a rich deep colour.
After the fruit was harvested and crushed it... Read more »

ripe, supple, seductive and detailed plum, berry, and spice flavours woven together

Like the Command block, which is an amazing resource to the Elderton Estate, the Ashmead block has consistently produced small parcels of excellent quality fruit. Traditionally the finished wine has been blended into the Estate Range of wines, however, in 1998 Lorraine Ashmead, the Estate Principal, saw the brilliance of the wine, and decided to release it under the Ashmead Family name. The 2001 is the fourth release of this exciting wine. The wine is a superior example of Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon aged mainly in a mix of new and then old French Oak Puncheons. The Elderton Estate is not unfamiliar with premium Cabernets, having won 4 trophies for this varietal including the 1993 Jimmy Watson Trophy. After the success of the 2001 Estate... Read more »

"The Elderton Command Shiraz has established an enviable reputation since the first vintage in 1984"

”2005 followed a vintage that many thought would rank highly in the decade and the chances of an ‘odd year’ standing over such a vintage seemed remote. But with a wet winter providing the sustenance and a mild, dry summer following, Elderton fruit showed excellent development, particularly old vine harvests. The vintage was later than normal with the last pick of the Command block being on April 11th. This long ripening period, partnered with cool submerged-cap ferments in the winery, has allowed the fruit to shine through (over the 30+ months of oak maturation) and is testament to the power of flavour produced from our oldest Shiraz vines." - Richard Langford

"flavours of Swiss chocolate, savoury spices, raspberry fruit and a hint of red currants"

The 2006 Meshach shows incredible depth and intensity of colour despite the wine being 5 years of age on release. There are powerful aromas of ripe blackberries, spiced plums and
dark chocolate, along with delicate touches of mint, florals and raspberries. The palate is sumptuous with flavours of Swiss chocolate, savoury spices, raspberry fruit and a hint of
red currants. The palate hits perfect balance between flavour, concentration and structure, with beautiful tannins and excellent length. This wine continues the proud history of Meshach.

As with previous vintages, the elegant 2006 vintage should be enjoyed on special occasions and will appeal to the collector in you. The Grant Burge Wines... Read more »

"A rich full-bodied wine with a wonderful mix of chocolate and cherry flavours"

Gold: Rutherglen Wine Show 2009

McGuigan Hand Made is a hand-crafted, limited edition wine that is the pinnacle of the McGuigan portfolio of wines. The 2007 shiraz is sourced from Langhorne Creek in the outstanding soils and climate of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. The fruit was picked at full ripeness off low yielding vines to ensure great flavour and acid retention.
After harvesting the grapes were crushed and the fruit underwent a cold steep for three days. Fermentation occurred at an average of 22 degrees in small open vats for seven days, followed by malo-lactic fermentation and maturation in oak barrels. The... Read more »

"sweet brambly fruit flavours in the mouth perfectly weighted with silk-like tannins"

2008 was a return to what we would classify as a “normal” vintage in Western Australia. After a hot December and January, conditions moderated to give us a perfect three months of harvest with no disease in the fruit and no inclement weather. Ideal ripeness was the order of the day.

COLOUR: Dark cherry with an unmistakable magenta hue.

NOSE: In what is atypical for Margaret River this wine has classic mulberry and blackberry notes intertwined with sumptuous vanillin oak and spicy elements

PALATE: There is an immediate wash of sweet brambly fruit flavours in the mouth perfectly weighted with silk-like tannins and balancing acidity. The oak nuances are well balanced in respect of... Read more »

"it oozes plum, cassis and soy, before subtle oak and dry tannins"

TROPHY: Champion South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon at the Advertiser/Hyatt Wine of the Year Awards

South Australia’s Limestone Coast is justifiably famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Our soils and climate, while somewhat different to Cabernet’s home in and around the important and graceful French coastal city of Bordeaux, offer the vintage conditions, which suit this late-ripening classic variety. While warmer parts of the state make Cabernet with attractive richness - and a certain massive style - these wines can lack genuine ‘Cabernet’ character. However, in cooler climes it is almost impossible to make anything BUT distinctive... Read more »

"The nose features plum and bright red fruits with a hint of roasted meats, earth, pepper and exotic spices"

""berry fruit salad" of strawberries, cherries and blueberries"

4.5 STAR WINERY RATING: James Halliday s Wine Companion 2011

Sourced from premium low yielding vineyards this wine is outstanding value for a Pinot Noir. This is truly world class value. The nose is loaded with aromas from the forest floor. The palate is medium in weight with great softness and balance. It is a "berry fruit salad" of strawberries, cherries and blueberries, with a lovely dryness in the mouth. Winemakers Notes

“Spicy, full-bodied & delicious”

BRONZE MEDAL: International Wine Challenge 2011

BRONZE MEDAL: San Francisco International Wine Awards 2011

While some Shiraz can be over the top, this wine offers some seriously easy drinking, even when the wine is young.  Red fruits dominate the nose and mouth, but subtle spice and a hint of dusty tannins join in for good measure.  A perfect winter warmer, and yet surprisingly drinkable all year round.

"dark fruit flavours...chocolate and plum"

SILVER MEDAL: New World Wine Awards 2011

Cabernet and Merlot make great partners – Cabernet offers smooth, silky texture while Merlot fleshes out the palate.  The dark fruit flavours of Cabernet are given a hand by the chocolate and plum notes from Merlot.  In all it’s a great partnership that results in a full flavoured yet supple wine.

Heralding from Casella Estates in Riverina, NSW, Australia, [ yellow tail ] has become the most successful launch of an Australian wine brand in the history of the Australian wine industry – and has been named Australia’s most powerful family owned wine brand for 2 years running!

“Smooth, velvety and rich ... if there were medals for easy drinking, this would win gold!”

COMMENDED: Decanter World Wine Awards 2011

COMMENDED: International Wine Challenge 2011

Ahh Merlot, how do you do it to us?  Sometimes when you drink Merlot you could be excused for thinking you had a hole in your glass.  Where did that wine go?  Soft, fleshy with lots of ripe fruit flavour, this Merlot offers a plush, rich drink with plenty to enjoy through to the lingering, juicy finish.

"bright tropical notes and allure of passionfruit"

"I just tasted through the latest lineup from a low-price stalwart. I sampled the wines blind, mixed with others of the same types in a series of tastings. Among others priced much higher, Oxford Landing Estates held its own." Wine Spectator’s Harvey Steinman, 21 January, 2011.

"Pale straw with a vibrant light green hue, the Oxford Landing Estates Sauvignon Blanc 2011 has lifted aromas of gooseberry and fresh cut pineapple with herbaceous nettle notes. "vibrant mouth-filling fruit with cherry and plum"

"Vibrant red with some purple hues, this shiraz cabernet has aromas of red berry fruit and plums with a hint of wood. On the palate it shows vibrant mouth-filling fruit with cherry and plum, good length, a touch of wood and a soft full finish." Bairnsdale Advertiser - Mick Plozza

The grapes for this wine were picked at night to ensure that they were as cool as possible. Crushed to modern rotary fermenters the grapes were then allowed to macerate for 2 days before inoculation and fermentation. Pressed off skins 7 days later and allowed to go through the second malolactic fermentation. The wine has then had minimal handling prior to filtration for bottling.

"A classic Australian Cabernet Sauvignon"

Deep red in colour, with some purple hues, complex aromas of red berry integrate perfectly with more savoury and red pepper notes with a gentle touch of oak. The rich mouth filling palate, with flavours following through from the initial impression of berries and more complex capsicum family characters has delightful savoury notes with clean tannins and some soft background oak. A classic Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, great with red meats and any full flavoured dishes.

"earthy flavours lead into to lovely soft palate which echoes the nose with spices and fruits"

"Warm and generous, this gorgeous Shiraz is packed with blackberry, dark plum and spice aromas. The palate is succulent and richly textured with excellent fruit intensity and plenty of supple tannins providing a pleasant dry finish. A sumptuous and silky smooth wine with a huge appeal. At its best: now to 2020." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Australian Shiraz comes in all shapes and sizes, and the thinking of the last few years seems to have been that bigger is always better. Well, we all know that this isn’t always the case... and with people now apparently tiring of blockbusting, super-alcoholic wines which are a meal in themselves, the focus is understandably shifting to more balanced wines from... "an explosion of raspberry flavours"

The colour is a deep inky purple. The nose is a complex mixture of ripe blackberry and plum fruit with a dash of creamy vanillin oak. The palate is medium to full bodied which starts with some sweet plummy fruit, the flavour then builds in the palate to provide an explosion of raspberry flavours. There is some lovely mouth coating tannins which combine with dark chocolate oak and fruit to provide a great depth and length of flavour.

The grapes are crushed and de-stemmed into fermenters. Yeast is added immediately once in fermenter and the ferments are pumped over twice daily to maximise colour, tannin and flavour extraction. Cooling is used to ensure ferments remain in the 22-25 degrees Celcius range which will allow the fruit to display maximum... Read more »
