Description

Rose fans take note, this ain’t your standard fruity tooty number.  It’s a little bit different, a little more savoury, a touch more earthy, it’s interesting stuff.  Made by one of NZ’s very own Master of Wine's, this is an exotic blend of indigenous Portuguese varieties Touriga Nacional and Castelao with a pinch of classic Syrah.  Whip up an antipasto, order up some sun, position yourself by the sea and grab a bottle of this!

"This is filled with pleasure. Fragrant aromas of ripe citrus, peach and floral with whisper of red berries on the nose. The palate is succulent and rounded with excellent fruit purity, beautifully enhanced by juicy mouthfeel and bright acidity. At its best: now to 2017" Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Bright candy-floss pink colour with youthful purple hues and some depth.  The nose is fresh with fragrant aromas of red cherries, cranberries, quince and pomegranate lifted by a red floral and herbal amalgam,  Dry to taste and light-bodied, the palate has a soft core of sweet cherry, quince and pomegranate fruit flavours, lifted by red floral notes.  The mouthfeel is rounded in texture, but flows with good acid energy and underlying tension.  Soft, drying phenolics guide the palate, carrying the wine to a light but concentrated, lingering, mouthwatering finish of florals and red berryfruit.  This is a refreshing, soft-textured rosé with a good core of cherry and pomegranate flavours lifted by red florals.  Serve a an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years.  A blend of 40% each of Touriga Nacional and Castelao, and 20% Syrah, from Tejo, given 8 hours skin contact and fermented to 12.5% alc. and 4 g/L RS. A pleasant full flavoured rosé.

E
I would describe as a strong rose but very appelling.

A
Very fresh and fruity rose, with more weight and interest than most. Unusual grapes give this wine a real character compared to most light roses, and it pairs particularly well with spicy food.

Thought a bit risky, but in the end no worries - very drinkable in hot Auckland weather.
