"Delicious, brambly fruit in a well-rounded friendly style"

Silver Medal: Selections Mondiales des Vins Canada

The Primitivo grape from Puglia - the heel of Italy's boot -has been scientifically identified as the ancestor of Zinfandel, and the similarities are easy to see! Delicious, brambly fruit in a well-rounded friendly style. Wine like this has been made in the area for at least two thousand years. Practice makes perfect!

Primitivo from southern Italy usually shows large-scale, rich, ripe and sometimes jammy blackberry fruit flavours, plus tar and Christmas cake characters, but unlike its better-known Californian cousin Zinfandel - Italian Primitivo usually has a pleasant streak of palate-cleansing acidity running through it making them far better suited to food, especially summer BBQ's. This wine offers great bang for the buck.

***** "Robust red as expected from this area of Italy, Great with aged red meat or antpasto. Unlike the more famous lighter Italian reds. I cant wait to take a bottle of this to our local Italian restaurant to enjow with some veal marsala."
