"fresh roses, cranberry, sweets and summer berries with a richly flavoured palate"

4 stars (87/100 points): Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"A lovely dry-style rosé showing youthful aromas of floral, raspberry and citrus. The palate is juicy and lively with lovely fruit intensity and a refreshing finish. It's beautifully balanced and full of vibrant flavours. At its best: now to 2013." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"I’m not sure if the ‘Hey Jude’ Rosé is a tribute to Dick Frizzell’s wife Jude, or whether it’s the name of her favourite wine style, of even if it is supposed to recall the soulful ballad of ‘The Beatles’ and carefree younger times, but the wine is designed for enjoyment over the warmer months. Made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit from Hawke’s Bay, cool-fermented with brief skin contact to 13.5% alc. and <3.5 g/L rs.  Bright, light purple-pink colour with purple-blue hues on a light rim.  This has a fresh, tight and youthful nose showing delicate raspberry and cherry aromas lifted with floral nuances and a hint of fresh herbs.  Mouth-wateringly dry, this is crisp and zingy with fresh acidity underlining the fresh raspberry and red cherry fruit flavours.  The palate has a steely edge alongside a faint textural thread which provides some depth and line.  Subtle red fruits and floral notes show on the finish.  This is a dry, thirst-quenching rosé to serve chilled with tapas and charcuterie during warm weather over the next 2-3 years." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

A fragrant bouquet of fresh roses, cranberry, sweets and summer berries with a richly flavoured palate. The wine is soft and balanced with a crisp natural acidity and finishes dry making it a wonderful refreshing drink for lazy summer days. Hey Jude Rose is one that will be best enjoyed young, but will continue to drink well for the next two to three years. Winemaker, Rod McDonald

The grapes were rapidly and gently pressed to produce an elegant, fruit driven wine with low phenolics. The juice was cold settled for clarification and then cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to maximise the retention of fruit characters. This Rose is a blend of what Hawke’s Bay does best. While this is a lovely summer wine to drink on its own, it goes especially well with Salmon and Asian style foods.
