subtle bouquet with notes of hazelnuts and figs
Gold Medal: Wine Masters Challenge
Porto Cruz Special Reserve is a refined selection of Ports, some of which over 20 years of age are chosen from numbered vintages, and slowly matured in oak casks. This prestigious reference offers a deep brick red colour and a subtle bouquet with notes of hazelnuts and figs.
The tradition of making Port has been handed down in the rugged Douro valley unchanged for centuries. The valley is flanked by steep, rocky slops of schist, and is the birthplace of this exceptional wine. The rain batters the hillsides in winter, then comes the spring with its bitter gales and hailstorms that eventually give way to the scorching sun of the hot, dry summer. During fermentation, grape brandy is added to stop the fermentation process to leave the wine with a touch of residual sugar. The wine is then aged a minimum of three years in barrel before being released.
