"ripe and rounded with smooth texture & a refreshing finish"
90/100 points: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"It's youthful and engaging on the nose displaying appealing aromas of dark cherry, plum, spice, and subtle floral notes. The palate is ripe and rounded with smooth texture and a refreshing finish. The wine shows excellent fruit purity combined with gentle spicy background notes. At its best: now to 2015." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Dark, moderately deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a shy nose, showing delicate dark red berry fruits and a little thyme herb element along with some lifted characters, the aromatics however possessing some presence and volume. Medium-bodied, the fruit expression is restrained, with subdued flavours of black cherries, dark plums and liquorice, and a little lift. Fine grainy tannins form a structured core and carry the palate, and the acidity is fresh and lively. This has vinosity and weight, and the flavours grow, with the wine finishing with sustained plum and spicy oak notes. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4-5 years. 100% Central Otago Pinot Noir fermented with a high portion of whole berries to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in oak until spring." Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Deep Ruby red in colour with flashes of purple. A vibrant nose of dark berries, cherries and spice. A full bodied pinot, showing flavours of savoury herbs, black cherries and plums. The fine tannins and ripe fruit flavours layer with balanced oak to give a velvety mouth feel and long persistent finish. WINEMAKER – ROD MCDONALD
The most continental climate of New Zealand’s regions, Central Otago enjoys hot days and cool nights. Although short, the growing season is extremely intense; hot summer days, low rainfall and dry shale based soils mean the vineyards are dependent on careful irrigation management.
