"youthful and nicely fruited displaying blue/blackberry, plum and subtle pepper characters"
4 STARS: Sam Kim; The Wine Orbit
The nose is youthful and nicely fruited displaying blue/blackberry, plum and subtle pepper characters. It's well balanced and smooth on the palate with good fruit intensity and fine-grained tannins. Very approachable and supple. At its best: now to 2012.- Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Deep brooding purple with aromas of white pepper and spice from 100% Hawkes Bay fruit. Succulent and juicy with flavours of dark plum, cherry and a touch of liquorice. What could be better with a fillet of rare beef or lamb than Bloody Bay Syrah.
What exactly happened at Grass Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound on October 17 1773 will never be known, except to say that when HMS Adventure set sail the following day, the ships master had renamed the cove, Bloody Bay. Today this evocative name represents our range of New Zealand’s regional wines.
