"intense flavours"

5 Stars (93/100): Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

4 Stars: Raymond Chan, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

"Bright ruby-red colour with some purple hues, the nose is fresh and tightly bound, with bright black cherry and raspberry aromas, showing good depth.  The palate is fresh and lively with attractively sweet, ripe fruit flavours of black berry fruits, dark cherries and raspberry liqueur.  There is fine tannin grip and slippery acidity lends tension and a vibrancy that will allow the wine to develop over the next 5-6 years. Match with poultry and pork." Raymond Chan, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

An inviting bouquet with layered aromas of ripe black cherry and plum with vanilla and a gentle, mineral earthy note. Rich and velvety across the palate with intense flavours of warm dark fruit and savoury highlights. Mouthfilling, with supple fine tannins and a lingering flavoursome finish.

This is a season where site played a significant influence on vineyard performance, with a slightly cooler than average season. Securing fruit only from hillside and elevated terraces has resulted in a brilliant harvest of very good Pinot Noir. The colours are fantastic, and there is concentration of flavour along with excellent structure, as the early wines are revealing. A range of the better performing Dijon clones from Bannockburn, Lowburn and Cromwell Basin areas was harvested, thus enabling maintaining canopies right through to harvest. The resulting wines look fantastic, and this year should surpass the previous two vintages in purity and power of fruit. Very exciting wines!
