The Villa Maria Syrah vineyards are located in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawkes Bay. This area is recognized as having superb growing conditions for Syrah, with freedraining gravely soils and warm temperatures encouraging low yields and devigourated vines. These factors, along with some well-timed vineyard management techniques ensure the resulting fruit is deeply coloured and intensely flavoured, with ripe tannins.
