"ripe and lush on the palate"
4 stars/88 points: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“This wine offers the great drinkability Pinot Gris is well known for, and tastes as good as most $20 wine. The nose is gently fragrant, showing peach, citrus and pear characters. It's ripe and lush on the palate with a juicy mouthfeel and a very pleasing finish.” At its best: now to 2012. Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A fragrant bouquet showing nectarine, ripe pear and a touch of honey. The Whalebone Pinot Gris has beautiful fruit weight with ripe pear, stonefruit and citrus characters. A touch of herb and delicate spice intermingle creating a lip smacking, lingering finish. The fruit for this wine is all from Marlborough and there is a touch of oak from fermentation in barrel. This wine will continue well to develop over the next two years.
It is a terrific food wine as every sip lingers and it is versatile with a variety of foods. In particular it is a great accompaniment with scallop mornay, oriental lamb fillets or cheese and cracker combinations. Enjoy!
