"An appealing Pinot showing some maturity"

83/100: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"It's ripe and savoury on the nose displaying red cherry, spice, game and mushroom characters. The palate is fruity and softly flavoured with fine tannins. An appealing Pinot showing some maturity, making it a lovely wine to partner rich savoury dishes". Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Frog Haven wines are carboNZeroCertTM certified. This ensures that there is no net gain in carbon dioxide emissions from the making and shipping of our wines. Frogs are key indicators of environmental quality and the Southern Bell frog inhabits our winery wetland..

"Frog Haven Pinot Noir 2008 is a moderately complex, medium intensity Pinot with good clean fruit and wide appeal" Wine Makers Notes

Bouquet: A soft oaky nose, classically earthy and showing some sweet cherry fruit.

Palate: A coolish entry onto the palate, very soft and appealing tannins, medium weight and a good savoury finish.

WINE & FOOD MATCHES: As a lighter style of red wine this Pinot shouldn’t be overpowered by “heaviness” in food matches. Its savory complexity does however make it a good partner to red meats, mushrooms and a wide range of spices. It is ideal with a nice beef daube.

CELLARING: Nice now and will cellar for up to five years.

VINIFICATION: Pinot Noir fermentations are conducted anaerobically in stainless steel fermenters before the wines are racked to French oak for maturation. The wine spent nine months in oak prior to bottling.
